Three Fires Wine Celebrates Four Years in the Wine Business
Three Fires Wine opened its doors October 5, 2013 offering a small portfolio of superb Michigan wines. As time passed, the portfolio grew, especially with Michigan red wines. Currently, Three Fires Wine offers nine red wines for tasting. In the summer of 2017, Three Fires Wine had 14 red wines on their menu.
Three Fires Wine earned some special acclaim from a team of three Master Sommeliers that blind tasted Three Fires wines against over 100 Michigan wines and benchmark wines from California, Germany, and France. Three Fires earned four, “Best of Category” awards beating all Michigan wine entries as well as the benchmark wines the Master Sommelier, Ron Edwards, brought with him as examples of what Michigan wineries should taste like. Three Fires has also earned numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from the International Tasters Guild.
When Three Fires Wine launched their business, they had two tasting counters, one for dry, French-style wines and the other counter had sweet and semi-sweet wines under the Skipping Stone Cellars brand. Two tasting counters allowed dry and sweet customers their own place to taste and experience Michigan wine specially produced for their taste buds.
In 2016, Three Fires Wine decided to discontinue their sweet wine brand, Skipping Stone Cellars, to focus on their passion, dry red wines. As the sweet wine sold out, Three Fires Wine launched many new red wines all produced from Michigan grapes. They launched a boutique brand, The Archduke’s Daughter, that is moderately priced and Cupbearer Cellars, a value-priced brand. Today, Three Fires Wine offers three brands at three price points so there is something for everyone.
Three Fires Wine moves into the future to continue offering dry, French-style wines to retail and wholesale customers and plans to announce some changes in how they sell some time in mid October. The Three Fires Wine tasting room is located on M22 at Hilltop Road just south of Suttons Bay, Michigan.
